History
Way's Mills Union Church Association was organized in 1881 by the Baptists, the Crises Adventists, the Herald Adventists and the Methodists. The Methodists of this Union Church were part of the Barnston Methodist Circuit from 1881 to 1921 and of the Hatley, Way's Mills and Cassville Circuit from 1921 to 1947. In 1925, when the United Church of Canada was founded, amalgamating the Methodists, Presbyterian and Congregational Churches, Way's Mills Union Church joined the Union but retained its name. The Way's Mills Union Church was part of the Ayer's Cliff Charge from 1948 to 1962 and of the Ayer's Cliff, Coaticook, Way's Mills Pastoral Charge from 1962 to 1972. Since 1972, it has belonged to the Ayer's Cliff-Magog Pastoral Charge.
Way's Mills Union Church is under the jurisdiction of the Quebec and Sherbrooke Presbytery of the Montreal and Ottawa Conference of the United Church of Canada. The Church is governed by the Board of Trustees, the Official Board, the Board of Stewards, and the Congregation in cooperation with organizations within the Church, such as Sunday School and the United Church Women.
