    Biographical history

    Jennie Elizabeth May was born in 1860 to Willard May (1813-1882) and Mary A. May (née Baldwin; 1826-1868). She married George Addison Cushing (1852-1929) and together, they had the following children: Addison Willard Cushing (1883-1962) and Ruby May Cushing (1889-1978). Jennie died in 1943.

    Scope and content

    The subseries contains primary source information pertaining to Jennie Elizabeth Cushing (née May) in Dixville from 1934 to 1941. It consists of letters written by Jennie, addressed to Ruth May Baldwin and Harold Ferrin Baldwin. Jennie's letters primarily contain holiday greetings and discuss family. The letter dated December 23, 1934 contains a black and white photograph of Betty May Ladd (Jennie's granddaughter by her daughter, Ruby M. Cushing) and Errol Ray Cushing (Jennie's grandson by her son, Addison Willard Cushing). The letter dated January 17, 1938 contains a photograph of Betty May Ladd at 4 years old, taken August 9, 1936.
