Research on Eastern Townships

The file contains source material on the history of the Eastern Townships compiled approximately during the 1930s and 1940s. It contains mainly handwritten notes about the history of the Eastern Townships, including lists of relevant dates and other historical details regarding specific areas of the Townships including: Dunham, Sutton, Potton, Brome, Bolton, Shefford, Craig Road, Barnston Sherbrooke, and Hatley. It contains information on the Abenaquis, and a copy of the Ebenezer Peck Report. It also includes press clippings and excerpts from publications on the Townships as well as land deeds concerning Robert Morrison, Timothy Rose, William McClary, George Knap and Isaac Ogden. Some of the research included in the file appears to have been collected in preparation of Linda H. Hackett's book on Eleazar Fitch (Eleazar Fitch: The First Leader of Stanstead Township).
