Original caption reads - "The first standard gauge steam locomotive on the A. & D. Railway purchased second hand from the Grand Trunk Railway. The first locomotive engineer, Mr. Frank Weller is the men with the oil can. The man at the front of the locomotive is Mr. Dan MacDonald, section foreman. This picture was taken before the wreak, seen in the next picture."

Pictured here is a group on a horse sleigh during winter. The caption reads, " On Danville Road between A of D Ry Crossing and Lyman Neomill's. Geo Smith's house - Gregory Jones House & barn."

The verso reads: " Returning from Asbestos to Danville just beyond the A&D Ry. Crossing.

The white house in this view was owned by Mr George Smith - father of Robert Smith who set up the hoist at the #1 shaft and who in all likelihood took this picture.

The smaller house (unpainted) was owned by Mr. Gregory Jones. Who for many years was a compressor operator."
