"The Marriage of Gen. Tom Thumb"

Photograph of the "Marriage of General Tom Thumb" by Matthew B. Brady, New York. In the photograph you can see Charles Stratton, Lavinia Warren, Minnie Warren and George Washington Morris Nutt, all posing in studio decor. They were all entertainers for P.T. Barnum. Charles Stratton (1838-1883), known as General Tom Thumb, eventually married Lavinia Warren in 1863. There is a postage stamp at the back as well as "With compliments" signatures from all four persons.

The fonds consists of primary and secondary source information regarding the Taber family, including the East Farnham's family: Joseph Taber (1806-1873) and Deborah P. Hoskins (1808-1888), and Rev. Curtis Phelps Taber (1837-1925) and Ruth England (1836-1922). There are also information about Georgia Taber Muirhead (1873-1921) and Mary Taber McCutcheon (1900-1983). The photographs also concern East Farnham families, including Charles Taber, Curtis Phelps Taber and his grand-son Curtis Penn Taber. The photo album probably belonged to Eli Hoskins Taber's family (1842-1878), who became a famous photographer, along with his older brother Abner Bedee Taber (1832-1866), even though their career ended too soon.

Photographs

The series consists of photographs of Taber family members, mostly from East Farnham. The photo album is assumed to have been in the Eli Hoskins Taber family. Many of the photographs were taken by Eli Hoskins Taber, who was a photographer like his brother Abner Bedee Taber.

Bedee-Taber Family Album Photographs

The file contains 36 photographs from the Bedee Taber family album. Many of them were taken by Eli Hoskins Taber, who had a studio photo in Montreal with his older brother Abner Bedee Taber until 1866. He later moved his studio in Waterloo. Her daughter Caroline Annie (Carrie) Taber married Walter Byron Neill and the family moved West of Canada, along with Carrie's widowed mother Marian Ellen Hall.
