Scrapbooks

Series consists of scrapbooks on Coaticook history and activities of the Oeuvre des Terrains de Jeux (O.T.J.) from 1953 to 1982. It consists of a scrapbook compiled by Dora Ackhurst of newspaper articles on Coaticook history and genealogy from 1953 to 1982 and a scrapbook of newspaper clippings and photographs on the O.T.J. in Coaticook from 1982.

Map showing the different railways by which the Eastern Townships of Canada East may be reached

Item is a reproduced map showing the railway lines of the Eastern Townships, southern Quebec and the northern part of New England in about the 1880s. The railways lines included are those of the Grand Trunk Railway, St. John's & Montreal Railway, Otttawa & Prescott Railway, Stanstead Shefford & Chambly Railway as well as some American railroads.

Cartographic documents

Series consists of maps of Coaticook and an the surrounding areas of the Eastern Townships from the 1830s to the 1880s. It consists of the following maps: “Map showing the different railways by which the Eastern Townships can be reached” (J.H. Buffords, ca. 1880), “Map of the Eastern Townships of Lower Canada” (Dean & Mundy, ca. 1835), and sections of the “Map of the District of St. Francis, Canada East” (Putnam & Gray, 1863).

Industry and commerce

File contains images of businesses and industries in Coaticook from 1934 to about the 1950s. It consists of photographs of the the employees of Penman’s, the employees of Belding-Corticelli, and a photograph of the interior of an unidentified factory.

Osias Dupuis

Item is a reproduced photograph of Osias Dupuis with an unidentified soldier in his military uniform from about 1918. Osias Dupuis enlisted with the 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Quebec Regiment and served in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during World War I. Later on, he became the first janitor of the Académie Sacre-Coeur in Coaticook in 1943.

Military

File contains images of soldiers from the Coaticook area from about 1918. It consists of a reproduced photograph of two soldiers, one identified as Osias Dupuis (enlisted with the 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Quebec Regiment).

Bell Telephone Christmas party, Coaticook

Item is a photograph reproduction of the employee Christmas party of Bell Telephone in Coaticook in 1949 or 1950. Pictured in the photograph are Lucille Meunier (5th from right), Marie Blanche (2nd from right), Madeleine Brulotte (1st on left), Lorraine Brulotte, Jeanne Bédard (black dress, in front), Leatrice Dresser (kneeling at left), and unknown Fortin (light-coloured dress).

It consists of an album of family photographs (largely unidentified), a photo postcard of Lucille Fournier, two portraits of an unidentified bride and groom, and the reproduction of a photograph of the Christmas party employees of Bell Telephone from 1950.

Religion

File contains images of churches and religious activities in Coaticook from about 1900 to 1925. It consists of photographs of an unidentified church interior, the interior of St-Jean-Évangéliste, and two of the Coaticook zouaves.

Item is a photograph of the Coaticook fire brigade, including equipment, in front of Weaver's Cash Store from 1885. The photograph was taken in an unknown location. Among those pictured are: Aaron Hall, Joseph Meade, Robert Ackhurst, Proctor Otis, George Haw, George Fletcher, unknown Johnson, Harry Andrews, Thomas Pickett, Henry Edwards, Captain Samuel Moyle, Bert Morgan, Theo Edwards, Fred Varney, Alfred Smith, Daniel Doyle, Dennis Rainville, Charles Ladd, John Keenan, Allan Moyle, Fred Brown, Del Ellis, and Ajutor/Adjetor Paré.
