The fonds contains source material mainly related to Minnie Hallowell Bowen's literary writings, community and political implicatons, and personal life at the turn of the 20th century. Many of her poems relate to local events, to the World Wars, and to Canadian and British politics. The fonds also provides information on the activities of Minnie's family members, including but not limited to: her husband Cecil H. Bowen, her son Lloyd H. Bowen, her daughter Rose Meredyth Bowen, Henry Bowen, Edward Bowen, Eleazar Clark, George Frederick Bowen, John Hallowell, William Bowen, Frank A. Bowen, Frederick Chamberlin Bowen, and Edward Hugh Bowen. The documents show their involvement mainly in the development of railways, in the mining industry, in the Armed Forces and Militia, in politics, in scouting, in church activities, and in social clubs and associations. Some documents are about the Fenian Raids, the Knights of Columbus, and the history of Sherbrooke.

The fonds consists of mainly manuscripts, correspondence, photocopies of press clippings, articles, publications, photographs, diaries, prospectuses, and drawings. The file contains primary source information on the athletic activities of Lloyd H. Bowen of Sherbrooke, QC, from around 1920 to 1925. It consists of a programme for the Rugby Dinner of the Bishop's University Athletic Association on 21 November 1920 and photocopies of press clippings about Lloyd H. Bowen's participation in a canoe trip, a camp at Kenora, the Sherbrooke High School rugby team, and skiing competitions. The file also includes photographs from the camping trip, of Lloyd in his rugby equipment as well as the 1923 Sherbrooke High School rugby team.

The file contains primary source information on the involvement of Cecil H. Bowen of Sherbrooke, QC with railroads from approximately 1898 to 1902. It consists of photocopies of press clippings on railways and the Great Lakes Waterway; a copy of Bill 98, the Act Respecting the Cobourg, Northumberland and Pacific Railway Company, passed by the House of Commons in the 1890s; a prospectus and an application form related to the issuing of debentures by the Cobourg, Northumberland and Pacific Railway Company in 1898; a draft contract, dated 1898, between Cecil H. Bowen, Reuben W. Leonard and John D. Cameron for the building of the railway; and correspondence, notes, and estimates related to the railway and to the construction of a line between Newington in Sherbrooke and Tobins Mills. One letter is addressed to Frank Grundy, Manager of the Quebec Central Railway in Sherbrooke. The file also includes a map showing the route of the Cobourg, Northumberland and Pacific Railway Company and its connections.

The file contains primary source information on the life of Barbara Rose (Eardley Wilmot) Constable from around the years 1917 to 1942, 1962 to 1963, and 1993 to 1996. It consists of a memoir of a childhood Christmas, documents, including handwritten notes, pertaining to her father's life and his career in the Church, correspondence regarding her father's passing, a copy of "A Short History of the Diocese of Quebec. 1793-1993" by James T. Sweeny with Barbara's name written on it and some handwritten notes at the back, photographs of a Canada Day parade in Hatley and Hallowell Cottage in Sherbrooke, and a hand-drawn map of the houses in Sherbrooke which she visited as a child and some of their occupants.

The series contains primary source information on the history of Sherbrooke in the 19th century. It consists of an engraving entitled "Sketch of Sherbrooke and its vicinity, Eastern Townships, Lower Canada", drawn by Joseph Bouchette or R.S.M. Bouchette, and published in "British American Land Company Views in Lower Canada" in 1836. It shows the different components of the village at the time: mills, churches, schools, parks, houses, and industries. The second document, by Lucia, a fifth generation member of the Felton family, is entitled "Belvidere". It consists of a 4-page history of the Felton family from 1780 to 1857. The third document entitled "Where Was the First Mass Said at Sherbrooke" is by Maurice O'Bready, a teacher at the Séminaire St-Charles-Borromée in Sherbrooke. It consists of the texts of three lectures given in 1932 and 1933 on the subject of the first mass and the involvement of the Felton family in this event. Another is a deed of sale to Thomas Evans It also consists of documents related to St. Peter's Church in Sherbrooke (including a partial plan of the St. Peter's Cemetery) from the 1930s and 1967; a notice of meetings for the Sherbrooke Assemblies, 1855-1856; documents relating the 53rd Sherbrooke Regiment from 1925 to 1935; a programme from the Provincial Senior League in Hockey, 1937-1938; a sketch titled "The Old Town Hall on Sherbrooke's Market Square at the turn of the Century" by Robert Vuillemin; a calendar with reproductions of photographs and sketches from Sherbrooke and the Townships; and a history of the regimental guidons of the Sherbrooke Fusilier Regiment and the 117th Eastern Townships Battalion.
