The fonds contains source material on Richard William Heneker's involvement in the promotion of higher learning in 1884-1885 and on his work with the British American Land Company in 1895. It consists of two letters addressed to him, one signed by Robert N. Hall, M.P. for Sherbrooke 1882-1891, and the other by Sir George Stephen, financier, railway promoter, landowner, and associate of Richard William Heneker in the Paton Manufacturing Company. The letter from Hall, dated 10 April 1884, pertains to the projected visit by the Governor General the Marquis of Lansdowne during University of Bishop's College Convocation. Stephen's letter, dated 21 June 1885, relates to the need for financial support for higher education. Sir George Stephen considered granting a sum of $1,000 to be used for bursaries in the name of the Paton Manufacturing Company. It is very likely this sum was intended for University of Bishop's College. It also consist of a deed of conveyance, dated 19 February 1895, between the British American Land Company and Charles A. Joyce.
