Fonds Marguerite Cotton

Le fonds témoigne de la généalogie de la famille Edwin Cotton, de l’histoire de la British American Land Company, de l’histoire de la ville de Sherbrooke et des Beta Sigma Phi (Sherbrooke). Il est composé d’un bref historique de la famille Cotton écrit en 1961 par le frère de Marguerite, Charles Edwin Cotton (1899-1975), d’une dissertation rédigée en 1977 par Marguerite Cotton portant sur la British American Land Company, d’un album de coupures de presse provenant du Sherbrooke Daily Record et portant sur l’histoire de la ville de Sherbrooke, publié dans le cadre du Centenaire de la ville en 1937, et de documents portants sur le chapitre de Sherbrooke de Beta Sigma Phi. Jointes au texte portant sur la British American Land Company sont des copies de documents datant du 19e siècle. Le fonds comprend les dossiers suivants : Historique de la famille Cotton (1961), Historique de la British American Land Company (1977), Histoire de Sherbrooke (1937), Beta Sigma Phi (Sherbrooke) (1993-1996), et Dossier médical de Marguerite Cotton (1941-1984).

Matrix magazine fonds

The fonds contains primary source material pertaining to Matrix magazine (published in Lennoxville, QC from 1974 to 1988). The material in the fonds spans from 1913 to 1921, and from 1974 to 1995. It consists of correspondence, largely with Matrix editor Philip Lanthier, regarding the administration and content of the magazine. The fonds also consists of prints of work submitted to the magazine, 53 photographs (including 12 35mm negatives) from The Seventh Moon poetry readings, featuring Irving Layton, Lucien Francoeur, and Ralph Gustafson, as well as 55 miscellaneous photographs (including 18 35mm negatives). Other items found in the fonds include an award certificate for Joyce Marshall in Matrix (1984), transparencies of artworks, sketches for the magazine, a Seventh Moon Poetry Reading poster, and press clippings.
