The file contains primary source information on the professional life of Eleazar Clark from 1801 to 1887. It consists of a deposition by S.P. Jones regarding a potential raid to be funded by the confederate government, a report, and correspondence concerning the Fenian Raids from 1865 to 1868. The letters are addressed to Eleazar Clark, Esquire, in Sherbrooke, and are from the British Consulate in Portland, Maine, the British Delegation in Washington, DC, and John Sewall Sanborn. The file also includes certificates appointing Clark as the Justice of the Peace, as a member of the Freemasons Victoria Lodge, and as an Inspector of Weights and Measures; an act regarding extradition of criminals from the United States from 1848; a reward notice from 1849; a certificate of discharge; an indictment of Lester and Jeremiah Page for burglary and larceny; general business correspondence; and a recommendation letter. It also includes a land deed from Josiah Underhill to Eleazar Clark Sr. from New Hampshire, dated 1801; a wax seal from the office of the Secretary of State of Canada; and three photographs of Eleazar Clark from about 1880.
