The fonds contains source material on the steps taken between 1974 and 1976 to organize the Eastern Townships Heritage Foundation and on its administrative and research activities between 1976 and 1984. The fonds is also a source of information on the relations between the Foundation and the region's other heritage organizations, in particular English-speaking historical societies. The documentation produced by the project Landscape of the Past relates to the various aspects of life in the Eastern Townships during the first half of the 20th century. The fonds consists of documentary materials of various kinds, including minutes, correspondence, constitution, letters patent, accounting and financial records, contacts, photographs, sound recordings, and transcripts. It is comprised of the following series : Foundation Preliminaries (1974-1976), Constituent Documents ([1976?]-1984), Administration (1923-1983), Financial Resources (1976-1983), Membership (1976-[1978?]), and Miscellaneous Documents ([1976?]-[1980?]).

The file contains primary source information on the history of the Eastern Townships from the nineteenth to the twentieth century. It consists of photographs copied from private collections and historical societies in the area during a project conducted in 1977 and 1979 by the Eastern Townships Heritage Foundation titled "Landscapes of the Past." It also consists of oral histories that were conduced under the same project.
