Topsy & Kay
CA ETRC P135-008-02-003-B-030 · Part · 1944
Part of Henrietta Kathleen Warren Milne Collection

This photograph dated to 1944 shows Henrietta "Kay" Warren Milne posing in front of a Christmas tree with her Boston bull terrier, Topsy. The caption reads, "Topsy & Kay / Christmas 1944," and the verso reads, "Topsy & Kay / Christmas 1944 / 182 Bagot St. / Cobourg."

Milne, Francis Joseph (1870-1948)

Note from the donor: This photo was taken from the south side of Orford Lake, looking towards Mount Orford. The gravel curving road in the foreground is the old Highway 1, now Route 112.

The railway tracks and trestle in the foreground in the lake, are long gone, but the piles it was built on were still visible in the 1960s when we spent our summers there.

Topographical maps of the area in 1926/1934 show the railway running on the NORTH side of the lake, where it is now. I don't know when the line on the south was discontinued or when the railway line along the steep northern shore was built.
