He first married Sarah Smith Mead and together, they had at least three children: Elvyn Austin Ferin (1845-1925), Ella A. Ferrin (1853-1863), and Lill Mead Ferrin (1859-1935). In 1873, following the death of his first wife, Martin married Sarah Haskell (1828-1899). Martin died in 1892.
Custodial history
Scope and content
The file contains primary source information on Martin C. Ferrin's life primarily from 1881 to 1892. It consists of three diaries where he noted sales and purchases of goods, weather, social calls, work performed, and other daily observations. Each of the diaries also has accompanying receipts and other notes. The 1892 diary includes two strips of an earlier document, possibly dated 1850, that seem to have been used as a page marker within the diary.
