Biographical history
The Cowansville-Dunham Pastoral Charge was formed on September 25, 1950. It was the result of a union between the Dunham charge, which consisted of Dunham United Church and Farnam's Corner United Church, and the Cowansville charge, which probably consisted of Emmanuel United Church and East Farnham United Church. At this time, it was named the Cowansville-Dunham Pastoral Charge and consisted of four churches: Emmanuel United Church, Dunham United Church, East Farnham United Church, and Farnam's Corner United Church. In 1964, as a result of changing membership within the rural pastoral charges, with the agreement of all churches involved, Dunham United Church and Farnam's Corner United Church joined with Calvary United Church (Sutton) to form the Sutton-Dunham Pastoral Charge. Following this amalgamation, the Cowansville-Dunham Pastoral Charge changed its name to the Cowansville Pastoral Charge and consisted of Emmanuel United Church (Cowansville) and East Farnham United Church.
The Cowansville-Dunham Pastoral Charge was under the jurisdiction of the Quebec and Sherbrooke Presbytery of the Montreal and Ottawa Conference of the United Church of Canada. The Pastoral Charge was governed by the Official Board in co-operation with organizations and committees.
