The file contains primary source information on chaplaincy with regard to the North Hatley Unitarian Universalist Church from 1961 to 1975. It consists of one translated copy of the United Church of Canada's "Book of Common Order" (French version), one template for a marriage certificate, one letter to ministers, Board Chairmen, and Secretaries from the Canadian Unitarian Council regarding ministers and chaplains, correspondence including one letter to the Canadian Unitarian Council from the Church regarding the possibility of appointing a "Moderator" to perform Acts of Civil Status in the absence of a minister and a reply from the Council, a document certifying the selection of Robert Fitzgerald Roman as the authorized person in charge of Acts of Civil Status, a letter from Robert Fitzgerald Roman requesting a copy of the marriage ceremony in French from a revered in Burlington, VT, notes written by the chaplain Robert Fitzgerald Roman about the position, a letter from the bride to the chaplain expressing her wishes for the ceremony, an invitation to the wedding of Marie-Carole Goulet and Walter Ammann, and a booklet of Chaplaincy Guidelines issued by the Canadian Unitarian Council.
