        History

After studying Architectural Technology at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in Toronto and working in the field of construction for 25 years, as a specialist in sales , marketing and public relations; Paul turned his attention to his first love, painting and photographing Canada's wilderness areas. Paul started painting in 1966, with his father Joachim (a close contemporary and friend of the Group of Seven) and a number of senior artists, including A.J. Casson, Alan Collier, Anthony Law, Bruno Cavallo, during fall sketching trips. Their influence and mentoring prodded Paul into seeking out the more rugged terrain of Canada, from Gros Morne Newfoundland, to the high arctic in Nunavut.
Paul Gauthier's work has been exhibited all across Canada and his pieces belong to corporate and private collection including Husky Oil, Texaco, Bank of Montreal, Toronto Board of Trade, IBM Canada, Weston Group, Canadian General Electric, Merrill Lynch Co. Royal Canadian Geographical Society, etc.
