Scope and content

Item is a photograph postcard of what is most likely the Kingsley General Store in Sawyerville after it burned down in September 1923. The postcard has labeled it as the Sawyerville Hotel in 1925, but this does not seem to be accurate.

      General note

The fire started in the barn at the rear and the Sawyerville fireman with three streams of water were able to save the main part of the store which reopened. The actual date of reopening is unknown but there was a sale of ladies hats in the spring of 1924.
